FSSAI makes Menu Labeling Mandatory for Restaurants and Food outlets at ten or more locations
Menu Labeling- now a mandate-
The guideline is in reference to 9th Amendment of Food Safety and Standards (Packaging and Labelling) Regulations, 2011 notified on 21 ‘ August, 2020 vide Gazette Notification F. No. REG-18/Menu Labelling/FSSAI-2018
Menu Labeling has become mandatory by FSSAI from Jan, 2022 for all the Restaurants/ Hotels, Cafes or any Food Service Establishment that have ten and above locations.
The guideline is in reference to 9th Amendment of Food Safety and Standards (Packaging and Labeling) Regulations, 2011 notified on 21 ‘ August, 2020.
This is to bring Public Health Importance and Mindful Eating Habit among consumers.
The Menu Labeling is where the Calorific value & Nutritional Information of the product is to be displayed to the consumers for them to choose a better food health wise.
Eligible Food Service Establishments- Possess over 10 Outlets
- Having Central License
- Outlets at ten or more locations.
- E-Commerce FBOs selling food products
